How: Add methods to the remoting API (UserService) for managing the new language roles and language permissions.
For language roles and language permissions
Add endpoints
Update endpoints
Get endpoints
Delete endpoints
Additionally:
Endpoint for assigning/removing language permissions to/from a language role
Endpoints for managing language roles assigned to Users
Why: Language roles are an important part of access and permission management, but unlike standard roles they cannot currently be managed programmatically. This creates challenges for organizations that maintain multiple environments and rely on automated deployment and configuration management processes. Language role configurations must currently be replicated manually, which is time-consuming, error-prone, and introduces configuration drift between environments.
Providing API support would:
Ensure parity with existing role management capabilities
Enable automation of environment setup and maintenance
Support CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code practices
Reduce manual administration effort
Improve governance, traceability, and consistency across environments
For Who: Developers, Solution partners, System administrators, User administrators
Impact: Enable automated creation, maintenance, migration, and synchronization of language role configurations across environments, reducing manual effort and minimizing the risk of misconfigured permissions.
Additional context: Standard roles can already be managed through the API. Language roles should provide equivalent management capabilities to ensure a consistent administration experience. Ideally, both standard roles and language roles should be manageable through the REST API as well, see: https://customercommunity.ideas.aha.io/ideas/INSE-I-307
