Customer has a need to upload data and to have them automatically linked to the products based on the naming convention of the files.
How:
Allow users to bulk upload files (images, documents, videos) and automatically link each file to the correct product based on a configurable file naming convention. For example, a file named SKU12345_front.jpg is matched to the product with SKU SKU12345, and the suffix (front) can be mapped to a media type or role. The user defines which product field to match on (e.g. SKU or item number) and how the filename is parsed (prefix, delimiter, suffix). Files that can’t be matched are flagged in an upload summary so they can be reviewed and corrected, not silently dropped.
Why:
Linking files to products manually is slow and error-prone, especially for customers with large catalogs and high volumes of assets. Most customers already use a naming convention in their own workflows, so using it for automatic linking removes repetitive work and cuts down on mismatched or unlinked assets. This ensures product data is complete and ready to be shared or syndicated faster.
For Who:
Customers (brands, retailers, manufacturers) who manage large numbers of products and assets, and already follow a file naming convention. Primary users are product data managers, content managers, and marketing or e-commerce teams who upload assets in bulk.
Impact:
Less time spent on manual linking, and faster time-to-market for product content
Fewer linking errors and unlinked assets
Better product data completeness and quality
Stronger Asset Management value for customers who don’t need a full enterprise solution
